Initial Assessment (1-2 sessions)
Intake session for new clients
Service Description
In the initial session(s), I gather information about your background, relevant history, and the concerns that have brought you to therapy. The aim is to develop a clear, structured understanding of your current difficulties within the context of your life. I will provide feedback on my clinical understanding of your experience — an overview of how the different pieces fit together — and outline how I would approach the work. I will also explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. If we decide to continue, we will define clear therapy goals, consider the expected duration, and establish a direction for the work going forward. We will also actively assess the fit between us. Therapy works best where there is a sense of trust, ease, and alignment in approach. If it does not feel like the right fit, that is important to recognise early. In that case, I will guide you toward appropriate referral options. This is not personal, but part of ensuring you receive the right kind of support. It is also a two-way process — if I do not feel able to assist you effectively, I will be transparent and support you in finding a more suitable option. Depending on the complexity and volume of what needs to be explored, the assessment may take one or two sessions.
